OBAMA PORTRAIT
Barack Obama Portrait Finished October 30, 2008- 5 Days Before Election!
On May 20, 2008 Barack Obama came to Crow Agency, Crow reservation, on his campaign tour. The Crow tribal vice chairman, Cedrick Black Eagle's parents, Hartford and Mary Black Eagle adopted Obama and had an official ceremony. They gave him a Crow name: Awe Kooda Bilaxpak Kuuxshish (One Who Helps All People Throughout The Land!). I was so inspired by the possibility of him becoming President that I began designing a portrait of him a week and a half later. I wanted him to beat Hillary for the democratic nomination and didn't put much time into the portrait until she conceded but couldn't really work on it until October when I finished my paying projects. The portrait was finished October 30, 2008, he was then elected president five days later November 4th, 2008!
